I think Amrutha really did good on this project and showed what it was about. For her clay food she made a bowl of chex mix, she made about 65 pieces. I think she excelled in this project because she has a lot of detail and texture. All of the colors are spot on, this looks like actual chex mix. She even added the little salt to the pretzels. This must have took a lot of time to make. She put all of the details in each piece exactly how they are. She made them all really neat and it is well executed. I also wish i could eat them.

Look at your body of work over the semester and choose 2 pieces that show your growth as an artist. Discuss each piece and how you grew in the following areas: application of materials, techniques and skills, artistic vision, use of the principles and elements, creativity, intuition and subject matter. I choose my Pen and Ink drawing and my clay food. For the pen and ink project we had a few options, i chose to do an object repeating which are the books on a bookshelf. It is in one point perspective, for the techniques i did stippling, hatching, and cross-hatching. This project was a little difficult in doing the perspective and stippling to add shadows to the right places. This project took a lot of time for me because of the stippling. I used many different values, you create value by how many dots you put, the more dots the darker it starts to get, and for hatching and cross-hatching it depends on how close together the lines are and how many there are. This was my first time ever using the pens and doing those techniques and i think i did pretty good. I like how i did a close up view of the bookshelf and not of the whole thing. I think it was a little creative to use books and how i had some laying flat or open. For the clay food i chose to do a fruit bowl, i've had lots of experience with clay but i've never made clay food so that was new. This project was a little difficult in shaping the bowl into a neat and symmetrical heart and also with shaping the strawberries. For the strawberries i painted them different shades of red because i've noticed that some strawberries have these dark red parts on them. For the blueberries i mixed purple and blue paint together to get that color, then once it dried i dabbed white paint over them to give them that ashy look like how they really are. I think it was creative to do a different shaped bowl instead of a normal round bowl. I think these two projects shows my growth as an artist because they were something that i haven't done before and i think i did really good on them.
I think my most successful project was my artist painting. For this project we were assigned an artist, we had to take our own photos and paint it exactly the way our artist would if they were painting it. I had Grandma Moses, who was a naive artist (self taught, no training). She paints urban country landscapes of where she grew up in New York. I think it looks exactly like the style of her paintings. . She usually painted with oils, but i used acrylic paint and i think it looks very similar. In my painting i used cool and warm colors, it makes the painting look bright and exciting. The way i spotched the paint gives it detail and makes it look somewhat realistic and it also shows the texture. My painting looks exactly like the picture that i took of, this is a park that i had visited. My perspective looks good in the way i painted the log cabin. I think i have good composition. I used different brushes and different sizes to do each part. I struggled with making the rocks, they look a little flat instead of 3D. I love painting so i had fun doing this project, i am very pleased with how this turned out.
